Aid, Health and Development-AHEAD was founded in 2008 and registered at the office of the ‘Anagrafe Tributaria del Ministero delle Finanze’ on 13.11.2008.
Its headquarter is in Rome and it has the statute of no profit organization.
The main objective of AHEAD is to disseminate knowledge in health field amongst the population and health operators in developing countries.
AHEAD wants to contribute to give support to health structures in order to make them provide an efficient assistance to the population and to become training centres for local health operators at the same time. The first commitment of AHEAD is to support the Hospital “Raoul Follereau” of Bissau in Guinea Bissau that is national centre of reference for prevention and therapy of tuberculosis.
AHEAD is a voluntary association made up of Health technicians (doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators and project managers) from different parts of Italy, who have experience of working in developing countries. The majority of the members of AHEAD have already served in Guinea Bissau, in particular at the “Raoul Follereau” hospital, handling the organisational and health aspects of the project.
